CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Particular care will be taken to effectively manage environmental and heritage issues and to minimise the impact on the environment during construction.

The SIA is committed to environmental sustainability and will develop a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) for each project to identify, avoid or minimise impacts on areas of environmental or cultural significance, while complying with regulatory and statutory requirements.

Emphasis will be placed on the protection of native vegetation, wildlife, waterways, heritage-listed structures and sites of significant cultural importance, relating to both Aboriginal and European heritage. The SIA will work with stakeholders to ensure that an environmental balance is maintained. Where possible, environmental protection will be enhanced.

The CEMPs support the SIA’s Environment Policy, which aims at early identification of issues, their potential consequences and mitigation strategies
