HEALTH AND SAFETY

Our vision of no harm will continue to be re-enforced to ensure the safety of our personnel remains the number one priority in all our works. As a reminder, the introduction to our Safety Policy states:

"The alliance is committed to promoting a culture where harm to its contractors, visitors, community and employees through work is unacceptable."

SIA's Excellent Safety Record

KPI targets relating to Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) are set for each year of the project, with the target reducing each year.  LTIFR is a measure of lost time through injuries for every million hours worked.  It is pleasing to note that due to the dedication, commitment and hard work of all personnel involved in SIA, each of these yearly KPI targets has been met and LTI statistics continue to drop.

In 2010, the LTIFR target has been set at 4.4 which, although quite low for the industry, provides an ongoing incentive to continue to reduce LTIs or, ideally, eliminate LTIs completely.

The current rolling12 month LITFR at the end of May 2010 is 3.6

The graph below illustrates the rolling LTIFR to the end of May 2010, from the beginning of the project.
